Description

When you arrive at the gliding club you will be welcomed by your fantastic instructor. He/she will give a detailed briefing whilst on the ground, then, once you are securely and comfortably strapped in your instructor will give the signal to the tow aircraft to "take up slack". The tow aircraft slowly moves forward and then accelerates down the runway dragging you after it.

After you are released from the tow plane at 3000 feet you will gently glide back down to earth with only the sound of the wind. The flight can be made as gentle or a bit wilder if you like. Remember; be nice to your instructor because they control the wind beneath your wings.

He / She will then demonstrate a few simple maneuvers and give you the option of flying yourself. You'll find the controls very light and you'll be surprised by the small movements needed to get the glider to turn, dive or climb.

You may then try to catch a few thermals or try something a bit more daring before you glide back down to earth. With a 3000 feet launch, generally the flight will take 30 minutes, however this is weather dependant, so whilst every effort is made to give you 30 minutes, it cannot be guarenteed. It is an exhilarating experience and one you'll almost certainly want to repeat.

On the day you may want to ask about becoming a member of the gliding club and flying regularly. Your friends are welcome to come and watch.

Location 

Bacchus Marsh airport about one hour west of Melbourne.

Available Dates

Flights run at 11.00 am most weekends.  If there is inclement weather your flight will be rescheduled.

Participant Requirements

There are no age requirements. The glider has a weight limit of about 110Kg.

Cancellations

There is a 20% administration fee if rescheduled within 7 days.
